Marine Stewardship Council identifies 10 marine fisheries for eco labelling

Marine Stewardship Council has identified 10 marine fisheries for eco labelling, which is likely to boost Indian exports. The fisheries were identified with help of various stake holders like exporters, marine scientists, retailers etc. and the identified fisheries are blue swimming crab from Mandapam, Tamil Nadu; squid by trawl from Kollam; red ring shrimp by trawl from Kollam; flower shrimp by trawl from Mandapam, Tamil Nadu; cuttlefish by trawl from Kollam; lobster by trap from Nagercoil and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu; skipjack tuna by hook and line from Lakshadweep and Japanese threadfin beam by trawl from south west coast.
