Amul launches Camel milk in Gujarat

Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF) has launched Amul Camel Milk in selected markets of Gujarat (namely Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad and Kutch). Camel milk is easy to digest and offers numerous health benefits, the most prominent of which is that it is high in an insulin-like protein, making it beneficial for diabetic persons. It also does not have any allergens. It is in use for thousands of years across various cultures, and its benefits even find mention in Ayurvedic texts.

For the first time, it is made available in organized fashion by co-operative sector. The camel milk will be available in a 500ml PET bottle priced at Rs 50. It needs to be refrigerated, and has a shelf life of three days. Amul had earlier introduced a chocolate-flavoured variant of camel milk in the market, which continues to receive a good response.
