Seleggt GmBH, a German based company has invented a ready made process to identify male /female in eggs using an non invasive procedures . The process will make use of a tiny hole of less than 0.3 mm made by Laser. Later a small amount of fluid is collected which will detect sex-specific hormone estrone sulphate which confirms the sex of the egg as male or female. A change in color will indicate and the eggs can be separated, while the male egg can be sent to animal feeds while female egg left untouched remains safe for incubation.
SELEGGT is now developing a business model to make the technology available to the industry as a cost-neutral service. The patented process will be available to the first hatcheries in 2020.
