Deejay Distilleries Pvt. Ltd was originally incorporated in year 1984, was taken over by Kanani family in year 1992 to form Deejay Distilleries a partnership firm with M/s Girish Wine Ind. Pvt. Ltd and Dunichand Kanani Investments (P) Ltd (which are sister concerns) as partners. Deejay Distilleries continued to use license of DDPL till 2010. Two other sister concerns namely Rama Marketing and Kalani Marketing are engaged in trading of liquor and are distributor of DDPL.

The company is engaged in manufacturing and export of IMFL. It deals in different products such as Whisky, Vodka, Rum, Brandy and Gin. DDPL buys both Molasses based and Grain based spirits which it uses for further manufacturing. It also imports some quantity of “Exotic Spirits” such as Scotch and Malt from Scotland.

The company exports to countries in Africa and Middle East but is not hedging any of its exposure in foreign currency. However the company does not hedge the forex exposure. In the domestic front, it has a strong presence in Maharashtra and neighbouring areas. DDPL manufactures in the quantities of 90ml, 180ml, 375ml, 750ml and 1l. But its selling unit is a box, of the quantity of 9l. Therefore, number of bottles in a box varies depending on the size of the bottles. DDPL procures spirits mainly from Maharashtra, glass bottles from Gujarat and Packing Material from Maharashtra, Silvassa and Daman. DDPL has its own local brands which are distributed through a network of 35 distributors across Maharashtra. The products are also promoted by way of giving free gifts. The company has sales team of 60 people.
